'Oh the humanity': Helicopter parents call their 5th grader's educator a 'horrible teacher' because their star pupil son is getting straight A's

Teachers nowadays are expected to wear a lot of hats–and not in the fun way that you'd expect. 

Being a teacher means that you're a part-time parent, a babysitter, and an educator all wrapped up in a complicated, rule-bound package. With a curriculum to follow, angry parents to please, and a tenured principal ignoring your emails, it's tough to even imagine tending to a 40-kid class. So when parents roll up to a parent-teacher conference with disgruntled looks on their faces, any teacher might feel a moment of apprehension–but normally you don't see your star pupil's parents looking upset. 

This teacher was shocked when the parents of their favorite student, a kid earning straight A's in their 5th-grade math class, came to their PT meeting. Since their kid was getting such incredible grades, that meant that their teacher wasn't doing their job correctly… Keep scrolling for the mildly infuriating tale of a teacher getting told they're terrible at their job instead of receiving commendations for a kid on the fast track to excel.

    Lucky Ease9145 I'm a kindergarten teacher. I once had a parent scream at me and tell me I'm a neglectful because the kid came home with their shoes on the wrong feet. Parents Keep doing the good work and know that it's not you, some people are just looking for reasons to be unhappy with your work.

    5tevil Give the child homework at a more advanced level and tell him it is required that his dad help him with it and to prove it, he must have dad sign it and say how long they worked on it together. Dad will eventually stop complaining.

    SimpleToTrust My parents signed me up for educational activities after school at nearby colleges and nature centers to supplement my learning. Are parents not doing that anymore? School can only do so much.

    Shadowstriker6 Parents expectations are one of the most crushing things you can experience mentally where nothing you do is ever right and that sticks with you for a lifetime. I would honestly get them some help cos that is not conductive to the growth of the child and can instead stifle their growth
